Disney’s Hercules and the Heroic Code

Disney’s Hercules Disney’s Hercules, while not entirely true to the scripture he was first conceptualized in, is rife with the same heroic traits as his definitive counterpart. Throughout the course of the film, Hercules faces a series of challenges and events which test his strength and ability. Subsequently these events fulfill the majority of his heroic archetype. By Hercules’ masculine nature, divine parent, divine helper, trip to the underworld, and fulfillment of kleos (his immortal quest for glory), Hercules would have been considered a hero in Ancient Greek society despite the archetypical traits left unfulfilled in the film. Hercules’ masculinity becomes majorly evident as a physical aspect after undergoing training with Philoctetes (Phil). His muscular personage is representative of man in a direct way. While he does not dominate his relationship with his love interest, Megara (Meg), by physical means he overshadows her and asserts masculinity. Hercules is also masculine in his bravery by the way he confronts challenges head on. In one instance, Hercules literally bashes the centaur, Nessus, with his head. In Hercules’ muscular build and his courageous albeit headstrong tendency, he is personified as a masculine hero. Hercules actually has two divine parents, Zeus and Hera, in Disney’s rendition as opposed to only one in Greek myth. In this way the heroic notion of having a divine parent is fulfilled perhaps to a greater extent. Hercules’ father, Zeus, also plays a role as his divine helper, another trait of the hero archetype. Zeus fulfills this by revealing Hercules’ past to him and his relation to the gods, setting him off on his journey to heroism. In addition to Zeus, Hercules’ winged horse, also serves as a divine helper throughout the film. Pegasus assists Hercules in nearly all of his battles and takes his abilities to new heights. Hercules makes his trip to the underworld in an attempt to rescue Megara from death itself. Hercules’ immortal quest for glory or kleos is fulfilled in many instances of the film. On multiple occasions Hercules slays fantastic creatures such as the Hydra and achieves his glory through the admiration of others. While enchanting the people of Thebes and creating some lasting effect in their continual praise, Hercules’ immortal quest for glory is cemented at the conclusion of the film when Zeus creates a constellation of him in the night sky.

Scenario - Essay Example Before people commit crimes they have weighed the benefits and consequences of the act and since the teenage boy cannot find other better ways of satisfying his wants, so chooses burglary. Some of the components of the theory are free will which means that the offender (the teenage boy in our case) commits a crime willingly (Akers & Sellers 20). Expected utility principle implies that human beings tend to act, in a way, increases their benefits and satisfies their wants. This theory suitably explains the act of the teenage boy. He chooses burglary at his own will, and the purpose of the acts was to satisfy his want of getting a nice car and clothes so that he may get a girl. He had the option of finishing high schooling and getting a job but instead he, at his own will, choose to commit the crimes instead. The rational choice theory suggests that a crime is committed after the offender has carefully weighed the cost and benefits of the act (Akers & Sellers 30). As an explanation to criminal acts, this theory is valid because, for one, the offender commits a crime to achieve a certain personal goal like satisfying a human want and, therefore, before breaking the law he has to weigh and see if the goal is worth the consequences in case he is caught. Secondly, the theory states that offenders are self-interested, and they freely choose their behavior. This is true because being rational; a person cannot be forced to do something he thinks is not right. According to this theory, potential offenders can be persuaded to desist from committing a crime by increasing the fear of punishment. Since the crime is based on rational decisions made after analyzing the pros and cons of the act, increase the level of consequence can deter many offenders from committing crimes because the consequences will overweigh the benefits. In addition, this theory suggests that’s

Belbins Theory Of Team Dynamics Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Belbins Theory Of Team Dynamics - Essay Example In the context of the university, the student often felt sad when a classmate can no longer continue his or her studies. Or, the student often feel desolate when they have to end their group and go their own separate ways after working on a very long project. This separation can often affect their performance in the new group or the task that they are working as they are still attached to their former groups. Thus, the new group that they are with suffers performance deficit and or the process of group formation as inscribed by Belbin undergoes a tougher transition than it should. This brings to mind the valid concern on how to avoid the separation distress or separation dysfunction of group members after the adjournment process of their former group. How can this be effectively dealt with? An equally important consideration is the notion of how can we form groups that would perform but does not necessarily end in a stressful manner. On the first concern on how to avoid separation distress in the adjournment process of a group, it would be realistic to admit that group attachment cannot be avoided because it is an integral component of the group that made it effective in the first place. Teamwork and cooperation are founded on a good relationship and this good relationship is bonded by attachment whose degree may differ and thus, cannot be totally eliminated in a group. It does not mean however that team must end in a stressful manner. The stress associated with Belbin’s adjournment process can be mitigated by setting the expectations of the group members in the forming stage. This way, group members are aware that separation could be difficult and thereupon can take measures to mitigate its impacts such as saying goodbyes early, noting each other’s contact information and other measures intended to make the adjournment less stressful.

Disabilities within the educational setting Essay - 1

Disabilities within the educational setting - Essay Example This type of â€Å"in classroom† therapy requires the speech therapist to maintain constant communication with other educators working with the same student. Other therapists may be included in the student’s education plan, such as occupational therapists, physical therapists and behavioral therapists. The involvement of these specialists allows the student’s specific educational plan to remain consistent and customized to provide the student with maximum results. In addition, frequent observation of the student by the educators and therapists will allow for the goals designed for that student to be more quickly reached, as well as to intervene when goals are not being reached. This will also allow the educators to design progress plans around that particular student’s specific capabilities and challenges. Observation and assessment also pinpoint delays or complications in the student’s learning and development. This type of assessment and observation can be done in an inclusive situation where the student is integrated into a regular classroom setting with his or her peers. This can also occur in a specialized and segregated setting where the student may be severely disabled and requires a more specialized classroom environment. Children suffering from spectrum disorders such as autism can be placed in inclusive classroom settings if their degree of autism is on the low end. If the student, however, suffers from a high degree of autism and perhaps requires more one on one teaching, the individual will most often need to be placed in a specialized classroom setting. The perfect age to get married Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

The perfect age to get married - Essay Example Marriage is a serious institution that is respected by both culture and law. This being the case, it should be approached in a careful manner due to its delicate nature. One of the major reasons why in the recent times many marriages are ending up in divorce is because either both or one of the partners was not ready to enter into marriage in the first place. In fact, in the past, 50 percent of marriages in America have ended up in divorce (Gibson). For example, quite a number of people get into marriages either because they were forced into it by situations or pressure from various aspects of life. A good example is when a young lady gets married to a man as a result of getting an unwanted pregnancy. This is especially common among teenagers and people in their early 20s. For me to arrive at the conclusion that one should get marriage at the age of 35 there are various factors that I have put into consideration. Firstly, at the age of 35, a normal person with the right priorities is well matured both physically and emotionally. This stipulates that he /she has seen their share of life, thus, they know how to handle different situations in the right way. Physically, particularly in women, one’s body is fully developed to handle pregnancies since in most cases children often accompany marriage. The other factor to be put in consideration is education. By the age of 35, irrespective of which profession one has undertaken, most people who are focused in life will have completed their education, and will most probably be working. For professions that require one to undertake studies for a long time, one is likely to be in their specialization phase of their professional education, by the time they are 35 years. This ensures that one can support themselves financially, as well as be able to support the family that comes with marriage. Another issue that makes 35 the perfect age

Housewife to Career, Economic of Race and Gender Essay

Housewife to Career, Economic of Race and Gender - Essay Example argued that workforce discriminations are not owed to gender itself, but can be ascribed to the general truth that feminines are doomed to the accountabilities linked to bearing and raising children (Aguero and Marks 500). In fact, the plurality of business practitioners from varied organizations perceived that staffing women can improve the individual employee’s performance. They believed that a manifold labor force can furnish superior services unto the final consumers. Significantly, these practitioners believed that women can better fathom consumer’s necessities (Fleury 1999; Mueller 1998; Wentling and Palma-Rivas 2000, qtd. in Rahman, M. Hussain, and B. Hussain 85). Further, female corporate directors are proliferating leading to conclusive remarks that their cooperation in boards is manifested to be significant (Catalyst Group 2004; Rose 2007, qtd. in Srinidhi and Gul 1610). On the other side, literature has embedded a limited proof that racial discrimination, spe cifically skin color, has an impact on full-time employment contingency in a stationary environment (Akee and Yuksel 400). One significant discovery pertains to the decreasing number of females in the IT labor force owing to unconscious prejudices held by IT managers (Collett 33). However, the developments of women are hindered by three elements: (1) varieties of educational training, (2) feminines encounter career interruptions, and (3) women can work minor weekly hours (Galbraith 45). Additionally, a proliferating ratio of women is obtaining higher education since 1970 to 2008 (Sherrill 1). The prime factor under the category of interruptions is the childbearing; this triggers women to switch to part-time job after having children (â€Å"Why Women Suffered† 2). In fact, this is not considered a barrier since, nowadays, country like Germany has commenced to implement policy to alter family subsidies, having a double objective to augment fertility and to develop incentives for feminines to

The Theme of Poverty in Cannery Row Essay Example for Free

The Theme of Poverty in Cannery Row Essay Poverty is an important theme in John Steinbeck’s Cannery Row.   Set in the 1920s during the Great Depression, poverty is an overarching aspect of life in the down-and-out community of Cannery Row.   A backdrop for the book, Cannery Row is a place where poverty affects everyone and everything.   In spite of ever-present poverty, the people of Cannery Row make do with what little they have.   This brief essay will discuss the role that poverty plays in Cannery Row and conclude with important lessons John Steinbeck offers regarding poverty and human nature. Cannery Row is a rundown coastal community in California, beset by poverty and decay.   Accordingly â€Å"its inhabitants are, as the man once said, ‘whores, pimps, gamblers, and sons of bitches’, by which he meant Everybody.† (Steinbeck 1)   Described as a foul-smelling strip of land opposite the sardine fishery, the inhabitants of Cannery Row make do with what little they have and work together, despite their impoverished existence. Although the characters of Cannery Row may not have material possessions, they work together and live in relative harmony.   The neighborhood grocer, Lee Chong, is relatively wealthy when compared to the other characters in Cannery Row, and he extends credit to the people of this rundown community, understanding that they do not always have the means to always pay for their purchases. Although not obvious at first sight, Lee Chong is a generous man and â€Å"over the course of the years everyone†¦owed him money. He never pressed his clients.† (Steinbeck 3)   Despite the poverty of Cannery Row, Lee extends credit to all.  Ã‚   Accordingly, â€Å"No one is really sure whether Lee ever receives any of the money he is owed or if his wealth consisted entirely of unpaid debts, but he lives comfortably and does legitimate business in the Row (Steinbeck 43).   He doesn’t hassle his debtors and is content to sit back and wait for payment.   His generosity even extends to helping Mack and the boys fund a home. Mack and the boys are â€Å"bums†: homeless men without wives, families or jobs.   Despite their position as outcasts and social undesirables, Mack and his boys are content with their social situation and are not angry about their impoverished lives.  Ã‚   In fact, their total lack of financial resources does not inhibit their ability to plan something nice for their friend Doc or enthusiastically set up shop in Lee Chong’s storage shed, ironically renamed The Palace Flophouse and Grill. Mack is a good man at heart and his intentions are generally good but he also prone to lying, stealing and deceiving.   An important example of this is when Mack and the boys discover that their new car does not have a proper license plate, they hung a rag permanently and accidentally on the rear plate to hide its vintage and also dabbed the front plate with good, thick mud in an effort to deceive the unsuspecting police (J.C.R. 526) Vice and poverty also seem to go hand-in-hand in Cannery Row.   Prostitution is presented in the novel as being situated around the Bear Flag, the neighborhood brothel where prostitution reigns supreme.   Dora’s girls, as they are affectionately called, work in a business which is universally described as sinful and where they would generally be perceived as social outcasts.   Despite their current position in life, they, along with Dora, are important members of the Cannery Row community and step into to act as nursemaids and feed members of the neighborhood when sickness strikes.   The people of Cannery Row work together when the going gets tough, as shown when Phyllis Mae and Dora’s other prostitutes band together during the influenza epidemic. Steinbeck leaves us with some important lessons, particularly with regards to wealth and human nature.   Despite the fact that the characters are unrefined, perceived of as outcasts and they exist in desperate poverty, the people of Cannery Row work to help one another. Camaraderie is an important theme established by Steinbeck.   Even if their plans do not actually materialize and they do not have all the money in the world to carry out their grandiose projects, the people of Cannery Row try to help each other and are motivated by goodness and not greed.   They may not have a lot but they make do with what they have.   Although materially quite poor, the residents of Cannery Row share a common humanity and a richness which cannot be bought. In A Moment Of Self Discovery English Literature Essay

In A Moment Of Self Discovery English Literature Essay In Henrik Ibsens A Doll House, Nora experiences a quick epiphany at the dà ©nouement of the play; this moves the plot forward into the resolution (at least for Nora). This final scene is compressed into Aristotles Theory of tragedy of a complex plot. The actions between Nora and Torvald surprise the audience in several manners, while continuing the story. The act of reading Krogstads second letter received by the maid contributes to preipeteia. This occurs because Krogstad produced a letter of amnesty, an effect opposite to which he intended to produce, originally wanting to expose Noras debt to him and longing for Helmers new job. This event expedites the next, anagnorisis, allowing Noras epiphany to take place, producing conflict between herself and Torvald. Noras new perspective places Torvald into confusion, trying to understand her personal revelation: HELMER (sitting at the table directly opposite her). You worry me, Nora. And I dont understand you. HELMER. How do you mean that? HELMER. Whats that?  [1]   The affect of a complex plot, or the cause-and-effect chain led to catastrophe. In terms of A Doll House, Nora leaves, slamming the door shut, abandoning the suffering Torvald; thus, bringing the complex plot to an ending. Antigone, in addition has a moment of anagnorisis in her final soliloquy of Sophocles Oedipus trilogy. She realizes that no one is there to save her from her metaphoric death, or literally the entombment. Seeking help from man and gods, she receives nothing but sympathetic feelings from the Theban elders; perhaps being victim of the Oedipus family curse. Having been abandoned by all, her personal dirge outlines her sacrifice for her brother, the hypothetical actions performed with a future husband (Haemon) and children, the love of her family, and a curse upon Creon. Acting upon the peripeteia of Creons punishment in the third episode, her soliloquy provides a chance of self-discovery in the next episode of the play. This chain of effects creates the catastrophe within Antigone, leading to Creons suffering of both Haemons and Eurydices death in the exodos. Antigones epiphany of loneliness affects the plot because of her own death and the curse set on Creon. His grievance over family suicides progresses the plot, feeling ashamed for all he has done. Comparing both tragedys they use anagnorisis in the female protagonists, later influencing plot. In Aristotles view, plot is most important priority of a tragedy. Seemingly, both plays use a complex plot structure in the lusis of action. Ibsen compresses this unravelling in the last ten pages of the tragedy, compared to Sophocles expanded over six separate scenes. The agency of self-discovery is defined as the change from ignorance to knowledge and Nora goes through a much more rational process than Antigone. Noras naivetà © stems from how she is treated as a woman. Her knowledge is gained through and used against Torvald, explaining her stream of consciousness before leaving the family. Noras epiphany has a smaller affect on character and plot outcome, as Antigones anagnorisis is overwhelming with the affects ranging for the rest of the play. At first, our Greek protagonist assumes that burying her brother Polynices is justifiable through the gods, however earthly laws state it is illegal. Therefore, when she is brought back to Creon to hear her final outcome, a life and death situation, her mindset changes. Accepting her actions and the chaotic environment around her, she kills herself so she can be with her loving family. Nora and Antigones anagnorisis leads to more actions, the catastrophe; however, it is Antigones reaction to it that stands out because it leads suicide. In addition, the effect of the female self-discovery affects their male opposite detrimentally. In A Doll House, Torvald is left sitting alone, bewildered. in contrast Creon is left with no family. His son and wife are dead. The use of anagnorisis in A Doll House and in Antigone develop the plot, but it is Sophocles Antigone that dramatizes the affect of self-discovery, leading to multiple deaths and Creons sorrow. Comparison between plot development/complexity Characterization with self-discovery Nora She wants a new life with a real meaning She can only have a real life outside of the house, Within the house she is trapped, she doesnt like Torvalds care for her Her epiphany stems from the way Torvald acts, and what he said He is not emotionally devoted to her But it devoted on how he can play with or handle her life, like the father Transforming into a new woman, with her new found independence She cannot stand being controlled anymore Characterization through inner thoughts and feelings that are expressed through dialogue Torvald initiates her stream of consciousness and reasoning She becomes stronger as an independent woman Challenging society and Torvald/rules The conflicting views of honour and women Antigone Her self-discovery only contains anagnorisis She realizes that she is alone and cannot be saved by anyone In normal spoken verse, a solliliquy is said by her Recollecting on the main thoughts on the tragedy of this play Burying her dead brother sending him to the underworld, in return she dies because of her unlawful actions Although respecting the gods, she didnt receive the same respect on earth Compare and Contrast the characterization effects Conlcusion!!!

Issues at AirAsia

Issues at AirAsia Simultaneity Once the plane of AirAsia takes off, the transportation service provided to the customers is consumed simultaneously. Since there is no food provided during the service, AirAsia has made use of this opportunity to sell food and beverages. Through the selling process, it creates interaction with customers and it allows them to percept the quality of the service. No free baggage allowance There is no free baggage allowance on AirAsia X. Unlike other airlines who decide to increase airfares that are imposed on all passengers, AirAsia X believes that by charging for checked-in baggage, it is more reasonable and it will helps to keep air fares low. AirAsia X will incur more fuel costs with every kilogram of weight added to the aircraft. Thus, guests who take on less weight will be able to save more. (http://www.airasia.com/site/en/faqSearch.jsp ) Fully ticketless travel AirAsia is a ticketless airline, therefore, instead of tickets; they will provide you with an itinerary which contains your booking number as well as your payment and travel details via email. This is also a means of cutting cost by not printing any tickets. Unassigned seats The seats on AirAsia are based on free seating style. There will not be any seats assigned to you unless you pay an extra fee for it. Therefore, we would see long queue at the waiting area of AirAsia as many of the passengers would want to grab the best seats for the flight. By implementing free seating plan, it helps to encourage passengers to be punctual so that the plane could take of early. Safety trip AirAsia pilots practice standard applications, technical and behavioural tests, ground school training, safety and emergency procedural training, full flight simulator. Travel with AirAsia pilots who have both mind and heart. (http://www.airasia.com/site/en/faqSearch.jsp THIS PART IS COPY PASTE, HAVEN EDIT) Self Check-in Service Self Check-in is a service that allows guests to check-in from our airport kiosks, via mobile or online on our website without needing to be at the check-in counter at the airport. With this facility, it helps the customers to save their time and also need not have to queue up early for the boarding pass. This facility if convenient and it also helps to increase demand for the AirAsia seats for people who prefer fast and efficient check-in service without long queue. (THIS PART IS COPY PASTE, HAVEN EDIT) Explicit Services Attractive and sexy air-stewardesses The stewardesses of AirAsia are famous for their attractiveness. With red shirt and skirt on them, it really enhances their beauty and this makes the trip really pleasant for the customers. They are friendly and would always greet their customer with a smile. AirAsia even advertise the faces of their air stewardess on their plane. Their main duty on flight is to perform the safety precautions procedures to the passengers and also walk around the cabin to assist the passengers and also to see if they need to purchase any food. However, there were a minority who complaint that the air stewardesses are unfriendly and do not greet the customers when they see them. Thus, AirAsia still need to work on their consistency of their air stewardesses. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xivjlxNim18 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p31o7hkW_A http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ah-p-qL8Xj0 http://www.airasia.com/site/sg/en/pressRelease.jsp?id=14f35316-c0a8c85d-eb784700-58cd40f1type=read Quality of the customer service There were numerous of feedbacks complaining that the automated system of the helpline was giving them a run around without providing a solution. Many of the customers complained that it is just impossible to get through the helpline and talk to a staff to assist them. And even if they got through; the staffs were unhelpful and were rude to them. For those who lose their baggage during their flight, AirAsia has not been very efficient in assisting the customers. Their reply was slow and the claim is even slower. Consistency According to research, AirAsia have always trying their best to maintain their on time departure record by offering unassigned seats and providing self check-in service to customer to encourage them to be punctual. Despite the effort to maintain punctual departure record, there are still a number of complaints regarding the delay and cacellation of flight. In event when flight has been cancelled, passengers were informed last minute and they complained that the staffs was not very helpful and willing in assisting them in the booking of new tickets. Thus, there is still room for improvement regarding AirAsias customer service and their on time departure record. Availability Website is available with information that the customers wish to find out. (E.g. Prices, promotions and flight info). It also allows customers to book and purchase tickets online conveniently. Call center and sales office is also available in every country where AirAsia is located in.

Altering the Amount of Heat Produced When Magnesium Reacts with Sulphur

Altering the Amount of Heat Produced When Magnesium Reacts with Sulphuric Acid When energy in the form of heat is given out of a reaction it is an exothermic reaction. Exothermic reactions usually need activation energy, the energy to break the bonds in the chemicals and to start the reaction. Once the bonds are broken new stronger bonds are formed. In an exothermic reaction energy in the form so heat is given out to the surrounding when the products are formed. Therefore there is an average rise in temperature; energy is lost which results in a negative ?H. The outcome variable for this experiment is to conclude what changes can be made to vary the heat energy when magnesium is reacted with sulphuric acid. Magnesium + Sulphuric Acid  ¡Ãƒ º Magnesium Sulphate + Hydrogen Mg (s) + H2SO4 (a)  ¡Ãƒ º MgSO4 (a) + H2 (g) There are many variables which can be changed in some way to effect the reaction, some of which are listed below:- Volume of Sulphuric Acid Concentration of Sulphuric Acid Initial temperature of Sulphuric Acid Motion of liquid (speed of stirring) Amount and size of magnesium Purity of magnesium The extent of oxidation on the surface of the magnesium Addition of Catalysts Size of Container Temperature of surrounding environment Pressure at which reaction is conducted Insulation of the test-tube Height of thermometer above the base of the test-tube Explaining variables In solutions of higher concentration, particles are closer together. They have a greater chance of colliding. Because there are more collisions the reaction rate is greater. How does temperature affect the rate of a chem... ...by encasing each experiment to prevent any changes in temperature at the start of the reaction to the end of the reaction from affecting the experiment. Extensions to the investigation Computers could be used to carry out data logs of the temperature during the experiment to give a more reliable and more accurate account of the experiments and to help distinguish patterns between concentration, heat produced and rate of reaction throughout each reaction. More concentrations of acid could be used to see if they also have similar affects on the temperature rise. Different substances could be reacted to see if they behave similarly. More repeats could be carried out to qualify the findings. These could be done under different conditions to see how the reactions react under a colder or hotter environment.

Emma is a novel about youth through self-knowledge. Discuss. Essay

Emma is a novel about youth through self-knowledge. Discuss. The learning processes that are experienced through youth often lead to greater self-knowledge. This idea is readily demonstrated in Jane Austen’s â€Å"Emma† where the protagonist is established as an esteemed individual, living in the comfort and indulgence consequent of the limitations of her rural society. It is only when Emma opens herself to new experiences that she matures from one who lacks self-knowledge to a fulfilment of self-knowledge. The various events that occur ultimately challenge her viewpoint of the world she lives in. Emma’s dealings with befriending and matchmaking Harriet and her misinterpretation of clues given by Mr Elton and Frank Churchill are events which lead her to first lose confidence in her judgement and which later propels her to greater self-knowledge. Mr Knightley is a key figure in her process of change, leading her to a greater acceptance of others’ viewpoints. At the beginning of Austen’s novel, Emma Woodhouse is established as the central character of the novel who suffers from a lack of good judgement and awareness of the world she lives in. Austen establishes this idea through her opening sentence, conveying the idea that Emma is â€Å"handsome, clever, and rich†. The responder is given the impression that she thinks rather too well of herself as she has â€Å"been mistress of his house from a very early period†. We are told that she has been spoiled and indulged by â€Å"a most affectionate, indulgent father† and governess whose â€Å"shadow of authority being now long passed away†. The praise that Emma receives from Mr Woodhouse, Mrs Weston and Mr Knightley is warm acknowledgement of her education and accomplishments but is... ...tain self-knowledge. The various events that occur during the course of the novel develop Emma into a rounded individual who possesses a wealth of self-knowledge. This was not achieved without the aid of new experiences that penetrated the stability in her life, largely through the limitations presented by Highbury society. Emma’s overconfidence in her own judgement and her misinterpretation of clues given by Mr Elton and Frank Churchill, are important learning processes in Emma’s education. With the good judgement of Mr Knightley and her own self scrutiny, Emma is provided with the impetus to improve on her faults. Her growth to maturity and correct judgement ultimately leads to an attainment of greater self-knowledge. In balance, it can be seen through the character of Emma Woodhouse that â€Å"Emma† is blatantly a novel about youth through self-knowledge.

Management of Field Construction Projects Essay -- Construction Manage

The objective of this report is to present and discuss the management of field construction projects. These projects involve a great deal of time and expense, so close control and management is paramount if they are to be completed within the established time and cost limitations. The term construction management is applied to the provision of professional management services to the owner of a construction project with the objective of achieving high quality with low costs. A specialist project manager organises, schedules, and controls the field work and is responsible for getting the project completed within the time and cost limitations. He acts as the focal point for all facets of the project and brings together the efforts of all organisations having input into the construction process. According to the Journal Your Pathway to qualifying in Project Management, RICS, July 2006. ‘Project Managers occupy a central role in driving successful completion of projects. Project Management is a thriving professional discipline much in demand throughout the world. Consequently, these chartered professionals can chose from a variety of potential employers including clients and consultants from both the public and private sectors with either commercial or not for profit aims. Typically, project managers will be appointed at the beginning of a project and will assist the client in developing the project brief and then selecting, appointing and co-ordinating the project team. He or She will then usually represent the client throughout the full development process managing the inputs from the client, consultants, contractors and other stakeholders.’ A key skill that every project manager should possess is being able to keep a proj... ...anager comes in as an enforcer. Subsequently if the client is looking to have more of an input in the construction and allow it to develop or mature over the course of the construction, a member of the design team will be employed to make the design changes either where necessary or where the client has had a change of heart. The member of the design team will also have the ability to ensure the contractor is fully aware of where all the design risks lie over the course of the construction. Works Cited 1.
